Abstract

Felicia Harris is a recent graduate of the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication doctoral program at the University of Georgia. Her research interests center on critical, cultural and historical approaches to studying communication and using digital innovations to eliminate health disparities. Her research uses British Cultural Studies and Black Feminist Thought to explore the momentum behind the growing fitness movement among Black women in both online and offline spaces. Her work on Black women’s health issues has been presented in the form of a visual media project for the American Public Health Association and also at South by Southwest Interactive, one of the leading festivals for digital innovation and ideas.
