Abstract

This session will engage the long term impact of Michele Wallace's 1979 ground breaking work, Black Macho and the Myth of the Superwoman. Panelists will discuss the works utility as a frame for the present day black academic. They will also reflect on the work's initial reception and why Black Macho continues to be a work of both controversy and acclaim.
