Abstract

Transforming the dissertation into a book manuscript, working through book revisions, attempting to secure a book contract from a university or trade press can be a daunting and rewarding endeavor. Demystifying the book publication process, this roundtable explores the nuts & bolts of academic book publishing. Panelists will offer insight on navigating the publishing world as well as confronting and overcoming the challenges associated with academic publishing. Panel discussion will be framed around a variety of topics including: Crafting book proposals for both university and trade presses; Contacting a book agent and acquisition editor; Responding to readers’ reports; Revising the manuscript; Securing a book contract; and Preparing for production.
