Session Submission Type: Panel Session
Public History has come of age. Over the past thirty years it has become an important tool for engaging students. Advances in technology has provided educators, researchers, students and scholars with the ability to access historical actors and historical sites on their personal devices. However, public history still works best through visits to repositories to explore institutional collections, to read personal papers and primary sources, and to examine rare text found in public libraries and private holdings. It can be incorporated in primary and secondary educational levels. The panel presentations look at public history in a digital age, at traditional historical sites and in a global collaborative effort of restoration.
