Juvenile Curfew Policies' Effect on Criminal Behavior, Public Safety, and Victimization: A Systematic Review

Thu, Nov 20, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Marriott, Sierra H, 5th Floor

Abstract

Curfew policies for juveniles restrict their presence to the home after prescribed hours in order to reduce juvenile offending and victimization. Juvenile curfew policies are popular with the public and have been widely implemented within the United States. Despite this popularity, the evidence of effectiveness is less clear. This Campbell systematic review synthesizes the available research on juvenile curfew policies and examines the effects of these policies on criminal behavior, public safety, and victimization rates.
