To examine the factors impacting stress and fatigue in domestic violence and sexual assault agency staff (advocates) an ethnographic study using semi-structured interviews and participant observation was performed using sixteen advocates in a variety of occupations. A multitude of factors were revealed during interviews including individual, organizational and institutional level issues. This paper represents a reflection on engaged ethnography as a method as it influenced the goals and outcomes of the project.
