Circles of Support and Accountability for Sex Offenders: Findings from a National UK Study

Abstract

Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) are now used regularly to help convicted sex offenders rehabilitate themselves into the community following custodial sentences.This presentation sets out the findings of a three year national study into Circles of Support and Accountability completed by the Department of Law, University of Leeds UK. The completion of this national study has coincided with major UK changes planned for the rehabilitation of offenders from prison. The place of Circles of Support and Accountability in what the Ministry of Justice calls ‘Transforming Rehabilitation’ (TR) has inevitably fallen into the discussions on these changes.
