To reduce reoffending, sex offender notification laws depend not only on the public accessing registration information, but also the belief that those on the registry present a danger to the public and thus deserve informal monitoring. Does the public agree that female sex offenders should be on public registries? Do they believe female sex offenders threaten public safety? Results are used to discuss the implications of public opinion on recalibrating the scope of registration and notification.
