The study is part of a larger project that explores the victim-offender overlap. It analyses how Swedish probationers talk about violence, both as offenders and as crime victims. In depth- interviews have been conducted with 17 men who have been convicted of violent crimes but have also been victimized. The analysis focuses on concepts such as respect, violence, vulnerability and masculinities. How do these men handle their own victimization when the concept of ‘being a man’, according to the interviewees, includes violence and dangerousness? How do they handle the masculinity challenge of victimization? These are questions that will be discussed in the presented paper.
