Does Utilizing Analytical Services Enhance the Acceptance of Analysts in Law Enforcement Agencies?

Abstract

Analytical reporting suggests that relations between sworn personnel and intelligence analysts are not always smooth. For example, media reporting suggests that some Special Agents of the FBI resent the new “intelligence led” direction of that organization because they feel analysts have usurped their responsibilities. Analysts, on the other hand, are reported to feel underutilized. We examined, through the use of an online survey, whether law enforcement personnel who have utilized analytical services have a better opinion of analysts and the services they provide than those who have not utilized those same services.
