In this paper, I seek to connect two previously disparate but increasingly promiment strands of criminological research; those on desistance from crime, and on civic or public criminology. I draw on my own experience (over the last 10 years) of disseminating the findings of desistance research to policy and practice audiences, focusing in particular on (1) a recent UK Economic and Social Research Council funded project that aimed to represent and exchange various forms of knowledge about desistance and (2) the impact of this project on Scottish sentencing and corrections.
