Bullying victimization is a common experience in childhood and adolescence but repeated and ongoing victimization is less common. This kind of victimization is particularly problematic as it often occurs in the school context and can disrupt educational progress. The literature on bullying victimization has established numerous short-term consequences across a number of life domains but knowledge of the long-term consequences of bullying victimization is limited. This study seeks to fill this knowledge gap by focusing on the long-term impact of bullying prior to age 18 on adult criminal outcomes using the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth – 1997 cohort.
