Speculating about whether homicide problems are getting better or worse has been an enormous interest of researchers and practitioners alike over a long period of time. In addition, a great number of academic studies have been conducted on the country-level homicide rates. Very few studies, however, have drawn on longitudinal approaches. So, this study contributes to the literature by examining the rates from 2005 to 2010 for all of 34 current OECD member nations. The present study purports to tease out the true effect of time on homicide rate growth trajectories of the nations. In order to complete this goal, the current research design uses several statistical techniques, including GIS mapping.
