The focus of this study is to examine parental stress among a sample of jailed fathers and to investigate if this stress is related to adjustment in the jail setting in terms of self-reported rule violations. We examine the parenting experiences of the fathers and the level of contact that they had with their children prior to incarceration and the amount of contact that they have with their children during incarceration. We also report on the amount and types of stress experienced by the jailed fathers and the way in which this is linked to their conduct in the jail.
