Working in the field of policing can be a taxing and straining occupation. For some officers, job burnout is a real possibility. Research has found that workplace factors are linked to job burnout among police officers. This research, however, has mainly focused on police officers in Western nations, especially the United States of America. It is unknown if the concept of burnout would apply to officers in non-Western nations and if workplace factors would be associated with job burnout. India is the second most populous nation in the world and the most populous democracy. Nevertheless, there has been little research in Western journals on job burnout among Indian police officers. This study examined the issue of job burnout among Indian police officers.
