How visiting the sex offender registry website changes community perceptions

Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative study is to examine both the residents’ perceived threat of victimization and attitudes towards community protection policies after visiting the sex offender registry website. This study will also examine reasons why individuals have not visited the sex offender website. A convenience sample of two small communities was taken at community activity centers. The interview protocol consisted of demographic questions and open-ended questions.
