Development Patterns of Crime Concentrations in Addresses

Wed, Nov 19, 11:00am to 12:20pm, Marriott, Salon 12, Lower B2 Level

Abstract

Crime place has been a renewed focus of criminological and criminal justice research over the last two decades. A significant amount of research has been showing that instead of randomly distributed, crimes are concentrated at certain places—crime hot spots. Using longitudinal crime data, the current study identifies the highest crime addresses and their development patterns over time in Houston area. Characteristics of the addresses and their immediate surrounding environments are documented and their impacts on the development of crime hot spots are analyzed.
