Smarter on Crime: How translating Criminological Research May Inform Future Initiatives

Wed, Nov 19, 9:30 to 10:50am, Marriott, Salon 15, Lower B2 Level

Abstract

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (OJP) strongly emphasizes the use of data and evidence in policy-making and program development in criminal justice. BJA is committed to improving the quantity and quality of the evidence generated from supported projects; implementing programs and using the knowledge gained from these programs to inform policy decisions; and improving the translation of evidence into practice. BJA will discuss how it is currently exploring innovations in the areas of policing and probation and looking into how implementation science and diffusion of evidence based approaches may inform future initiatives of the agency.
