How well does criminological theory developed in the United States explain delinquency in other countries? This research explores the relevance of the original Techniques of Neutralization (Sykes and Matza, 1957) and recent modifications of the theory, through research in the country of Turkey. This research relied on the development of a unique questionnaire which was administered to a population of Turkish citizens. The study methodology, research findings and future directions are addressed.
