This paper will present a multi-method multi-site evaluation of the Drug Market Intervention. RAND conducted a NIJ-funded evaluation of four sites, Guntersville, AL, Roanoke, VA, Flint, MI, and Montgomery County, MD all received training on DMI from Michigan State University. We will present our findings on DMI's impact on crime, community perceptions of safety, and police-community relations using data collected through six-months to one-year on-site observations, focus groups, semi-structured interviews, community surveys, a drug-user survey using respondent-driven sampling, and police data on crime, along with a cost-benefit analysis of program effectiveness, across all the sites that implemented the intervention.
