Therapeutic or problem-solving court models have gained popularity internationally in the past 2 decades; however research on participant experiences in these courts is still limited. Recent research has suggested that offenders with co-morbid substance abuse and mental health disorders value the quality of interpersonal relationships formed with the authority figure in a problem-solving court and experience high levels of procedural justice when participating in this type of program (Mahoney, 2014). This paper examines perceptions of probationers (n=24) of the judge-probationer relationship (JPR), procedural justice, and outcome satisfaction within a co-occurring disorders court.
