The Neuroscience of Self-Regulation: A Toolbox for Developing Cumulative Theory

Abstract

Self-regulation is an important concept in multiple theoretical framework within criminology. In this talk we show how the neurological mechanisms underlying self-regulation can be used to integrate existing criminological theories into a cumulative body of knowledge, as well as the demonstrate the explanatory benefits gained from doing so.
