Little quantitative large-dataset research has been conducted on exploring the responses of law enforcement to aggressive driving behaviors. This research analyzes aggressive driving attributes (such as speeding) within demographic characteristics (such as age or gender) in the context of criminal citations. We analyze specific violation types such as speeding (including actual speed and speed limit differences), following too closely, or driving to endanger among others to analyze law enforcement responses in terms of citation type and the assessed amount for the violations. We will depict the factors that influence law enforcement responses to aggressive driving and focus on the extent of uniformity across different demographics. A large dataset in Massachusetts is the basis for this analysis. The research therefore hopes to contribute to a better understanding of law enforcement responses to aggressive driving.
