“In November 2012, the Mesa Police department commenced a 12-month evaluation of an on-officer camera study. This thesis focused on the cameras’ potential to increase officer accountability, reduce citizen complaints, and enhance criminal prosecutions. This specific poster focuses on the findings from the patrol officer survey data. The patrol officer survey data was interested in establishing the officers’ perceptions on these cameras and to evaluate whether or not their perceptions’ changed throughout the study. After evaluating the results, we find that the majority of officers believe that on-officer cameras are going to provide quality evidence. Not only that but also, these cameras are going to allow officers to make more cautious decisions when it comes to the use of force. Overall, this study can conclude that officers believe that the on-camera system should be adopted and implemented citywide.”
