Sex Offender Typologies: Looking Beyond Male-Centric Stereotypes

Abstract

This presentation emphasizes the importance of gender specific research (such as criminal typologies) for not only male sex offenders, but also for females who offend alone or with a male partner. We must expand our narrow stereotype of sex offenders (i.e., solo, adult male pedophiles, the “stranger danger”) by including female offenders, and co-offenders, into the discussion
