Thu, Nov 20, 6:00 to 8:00pm, Marriott, Golden Gate, B2 Level

Abstract

According to Sampson & Laub (2003), work is an important turning point for criminals. However, the relationship between delinquency and work among adolescents is still need to be investigated. Moreover, by our knowledge, there is no literature explore the relationship between work experience and delinquency among Taiwanese adolescents. Using J3 cohort data of Taiwan Youth Project, 1,937 Taiwanese adolescents enter the final analysis. The primary analysis of zero-inflate negative binomial regression shows that work experience has no effect on delinquency for neither zero group nor count group after adding control variables. Further analyses are needed before giving any conclusion. Final outcomes and policy implications will be presented in 2014 ASC in San Francisco.
