Exploring White Racial Consciousness and Crime Policy Attitudes

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether the racial consciousness of white Americans influences their crime policy preferences. If so, what theoretical concepts help to explain this relationship? Symbolic racism theory and colorblind racism will be used as sensitizers to help further explain the phenomenon.
