Thu, Nov 20, 6:00 to 8:00pm, Marriott, Golden Gate, B2 Level

Abstract

Police departments utilize a variety of police officer personnel evaluation tools, many of which are not rigorously validated. This project presents best practices for developing effective and accurate police officer evaluations. The methods discussed are intended to be utilizable by a variety of departments regardless of geographic region or department size. These best practices include ways for developing personalized evaluations for a specific department, accurate job descriptions, and techniques for objectively administering the evaluations. In addition, limitations that may be experienced during the development process will be discussed.
