Social connections form the foundation of interaction among members of a community, including both pro-social and anti-social groups and members of those groups. Social ties among violent group members and the groups themselves play a large role in the network of interaction within urban areas. Most importantly, these group interactions often shape the nature of violence occurring within these areas. This study seeks to assess the long-term effect of a violence reduction initiative within one neighborhood in a Mid-western City. More specifically, it assesses the impact of a group-based focused-deterrence initiative.
