The mental health court in Utah’s First District was established in 2008 and, barring anecdotal evidence from participants published in the local paper, the overall impact of the court on criminal justice and treatment outcomes is unknown. The current study aims to use a pre-test/post-test control group design to provide a comprehensive exploration of what factors significantly impact program acceptance rates, program graduation rates, criminal involvement post-participation, and treatment contacts post-participation.
