Police Recruits and Prior Drug Use: "Relaxing" the Guidelines

Abstract

This poster will describe the developing practice in law enforcement recruiting of 'relaxing' hiring guidelines on prior drug use. What are the implications of allowing recruits who have used illegal drugs in the past to become members of law enforcement? This poster will present examples of current law enforcement agency prior drug use guidelines and discuss the pros and cons associated with this shift in recruitment policies.
