We surveyed 187 undergraduates at University of Wisconsin-River Falls to determine whether or not their views of race and crime were consistent with current crime statistics and the opinions of society as a whole. Methods: Surveys were administered in person in various college classes over the course of three weeks. Questions asked included opinions of minority involvement in violent crime, property crime, interpersonal violence, as well as personal safety. Consideration was given to subjects' demographics (i.e. age, race, and area of residence). Conclusions: Respondents' demographics have an effect on what they believe to be true about racial minorities' involvement in crime.
