This research will review current literature on prostitution in the United States. In particular, it will review the prevalence of this crime along border communities along the Texas-Mexico border. Theoretical dimensions of prostitution will be explored along with issues regarding the legalization and/or decriminalization of this crime. Finally, this research will explore the relationship between the oil boom and the prevalence of prostitution in certain small towns along the Texas-Mexico border.
