Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
The papers in this panel will assess the state of knowledge about sexual offenses that occur within institutions, with a particular focus on religious and social organizations. The focus is on theoretical explanations of abusive behavior, media influence on the perspectives about this behavior, and the organizational responses to it. The panel concludes with a reassessment of sex offender “typologies” based upon the vast databases of offenders that now exist.
