Anticipating the Next 30 Years: Feminist Criminology for the Future

Abstract

Dozens of feminist scholars and activists have participated in the development of feminist criminology. At times there has been intense debates about the significance or otherwise of gender to patterns of crime and modes of criminalisation, over the past four decades. Given it is the 30 year anniversary of ASC Division of Women and Crime, we think it is timely to reflect on those achievements and to push the agenda for a more intersectional, inclusive and feminist criminology into the future, one that is more global in its sights and ambitious in its vision. Importantly this round table puts feminist criminology at the centre and not the periphery of advancing criminological theory and knowledge. Panel members with a plethora a experiences will reflect on feminist criminology’s challenges, contributions, and directions for the next 30 years. They will also consider how the common agendas with queer and critical criminology can be harnessed to take feminist criminological research agendas forward?
