Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
More women are entering criminology and criminal justice, a traditionally male dominated field, both as scholars and practitioners. In the academy, faculty and graduate student gender composition both reflect this trend. Given the rising prominence of women in the field, it is important to reflect on the careers, unique experiences, successes, and challenges faced by women in our field. It is also useful to discuss how the field has changed for women throughout its history and what changes might be on the horizon as women’s numbers and visibility continue to increase. Leading scholars and practitioners also provide advice on how to navigate the waters of our traditionally male dominated field. A professional development panel co-sponsored by the Division on Women and Crime and the Student Affairs Committee.
