As the Indian economy continues the Indian police are facing new forms of crimes particularly involving women and modern communication systems. While property crimes are showing a declining trend crimes against women in particular are showing a disturbing trend. This session explores socio-economic factors to examine crime trends; the relationship between sexual autonomy and domestic violence along with rise of cyber deviance. Investigating these and other crimes require new approach particularly involving ethical guidelines for police investigators. The session brings new criminological scholarship about a nation comprising 1.2 billion people.
