In recent years, a growing number of studies has analyzed how organized crime groups infiltrate the legal economy and where they invest (e.g. what type of assets, what business sectors, what geographic areas). However, most of these studies focused only on one country at the time. There is the need instead to analyze the phenomenon from a transnational perspective: does the same criminal organization opt for different infiltration strategies in different countries? Does this depend on the peculiarities of each country in terms of regulation and economic opportunities? Answering this question is crucial to strengthen the identification and the recovery of criminal assets and to better proof legal economies.
