Session Submission Type: Complete Thematic Panel
This panel is part of a three part series that proposes and aims to facilitate a more organized presence of, and collaboration among, critical and abolitionist scholars within the American Society of Criminology. This panel features scholars who engage in critical carceral studies “on the ground”. These papers map the spatial, techno-punitive, and discursive formations that characterize the growing scope of the carceral state. In addition, these papers critically engage with rhetorical interventions and policy reforms that may ultimately reinscribe and instantiate carceral power.
