Abstract

This roundtable proposes to discuss past and contemporary forms of resistance to the prison, with particular reference to mass incarceration in the United States. The roundtable will focus on the global expansion of technologies of detention beyond the prison, particularly in the field of immigration control, as well as on the practices of resistance deployed by the communities most affected by these developments. The discussion will also focus on further strategies of resistance with an aim toward decarceration and prison abolition.
