Researcher Characteristics Associated with the Experience of Risk

Thu, Nov 17, 6:00 to 7:00pm, Hilton, Grand Ballroom A, 1st Level

Abstract

Is it possible that risk occurs more to some researchers based on factors like gender, age, or level of experience? This research project intended to answer that question by collecting information on the experience of risk from researchers employing all types of research methods to study social deviance and criminal behavior. Descriptive information about research methods, researcher, topic under study, population under study, and research environment was collected and analyzed. It is important to explore these elements in relation to the experience of risk in order to formulate an accurate illustration for the occurrence of risk. Furthermore, exploring these elements will aid in developing an understanding of mediating factors that could isolate researchers from such risk. This poster session will present findings from the research project that illustrate risk in relation to characteristics of the researcher, research methods, research topic, research environment, and population under study.
