Life Satisfaction of Chinese Correctional Staff

Abstract

Working in corrections is not only a demanding career, but a socially important one. The overall quality of life is important for employees, including those working in institutional corrections. While a growing number of studies have examined how the work environment impacts the job stress, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment of correctional staff, a mere handful have examined how working in corrections impacts the life satisfaction of staff. Moreover, the few studies to date have focused on correctional staff in Western nations, particularly the United States. This study focused on how work environment variables are associated with life satisfaction among Chinese correctional staff.
