Program Costs in the FFT-G Intervention

Abstract

The study of Functional Family Therapy for Gang Populations (FFT-G) is expected to demonstrate a mechanism for disseminating evidence-based program models using two existing public funding streams: Medical Assistance (Medicaid) and Special Grants funded through the participating county’s needs based budget, administered by the Department of Human Services. All treatment and control services delivered as part of this study were funded through these mechanisms. If FFT-G is demonstrated to be effective for reaching its objectives, these funding streams can be employed in other locations to fund evidence-based practices. The Philadelphia agency that manages Medicaid funds has agreed to provide an accounting of the costs of services delivered to members of the treatment and control groups during the study period. These records will be augmented with records summarizing payments for services made through the Special Grants fund mentioned above. Additional FFT cost elements are those related to providing training and supervision for FFT-G. These costs were paid through the study grant and records of expenditures are available. This presentation describes the data source used to capture treatment costs for the treatment and control groups, and the process of gaining access to these data. It presents data comparing the costs of services delivered to the treatment and control groups.
