Fri, Nov 18, 8:00 to 9:20am, Hilton, Marlborough A, 2nd Level

Abstract

This study examines determinants of prison victimization and prison violence. The prevalence and extent of prison violence in the United States are discussed and limitations on current measurements of prison violence are presented. Past studies have identified individual and situational characteristics that impact prison victimization and prison violence. Those characteristics are discussed in the current study and measured using the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Attachment H (formerly known as report of serious incident) reporting form spanning from 7/4/2011 to 6/27/2014, containing 812 incidents and 2,108 inmates.
