The open European borders in the EU have been strained with the influx of thousands of refugees from Syria, Iraq, Iran, and north Africa...who transit through states of the former Yugoslavia placing considerable strain of countries like Serbia, Bosnia, Croatia.... The challenges are that sectarian issues can easily be exploited by those infiltrating these borders. Our paper addressed these issues in detail and in relation to UN, USA, and EU demands of peace in the region.
