According to IACP social media survey (2015), currently around 95% of police departments in the United States claim that they have adopted social media. However, usage of social media lacks policies and evaluations. The current study applies the grounded theory approach to explore content and strategies of police use of social media. The current dissertation also proposes several policy implications that can be used to guide electronic community-oriented policing.
