This paper is an evaluation of a project in Orange County, Florida where the local sheriffs office is working in partnership with the University and a private policing firm to reduce crime, fear and disorder in to selected high crime neighborhoods.
For this project, asset forfeiture funds were used to contract with a national private policing agency to supplement police patrol in two diverse criminogenic neighborhoods. A community survey was completed and data from the community was joined with official data to determine the effectiveness of this program and whether it will continued and/or expanded.
