What is the Reality of Partnership? Formal Collaborations between Law Enforcement and Community Corrections Agencies in Pennsylvania

Fri, Nov 18, 8:00 to 9:20am, Hilton, Chart A, Riverside Complex

Abstract

Given the potential benefits of multi-agency collaborations, many have advocated for police and community supervision agencies to establish partnerships. Despite a handful of government-funded research reports on police-probation/parole partnerships, it remains unclear to what extent such “formal" partnerships are integrated into routine practices of the field. The current study provides insight into this gap by providing results on a statewide survey of a random sample of local police chiefs and county chief probation/parole officers in Pennsylvania on the prevalence and characteristics of formal partnerships. Implications on the future expansion of these partnerships in light of these results will be discussed.
