Comparative/International Research on Women and Crime: A Review of Conference Presentations and Specialty Journals

Wed, Nov 16, 8:00 to 9:20am, Hilton, Port, Riverside Complex

Abstract

Despite the recent encouragement and promotion of comparative/international and collaborative research by the leaders in the field of criminology and criminal justice, it is unclear how much comparative/international research on the topic of women is occurring. The authors will conduct a content analysis of ASC and ESC presentations and specialty journals that focus on women and crime to provide an empirical summary of patterns and trends of presentations and publications on women and crime which have a comparative or international focus. Results will be compared with content analyses of comparative/international articles published in journals that concern juvenile justice and policing. It is anticipated that the current study will provide a more complete picture of the status and patterns of comparative/international research on women and crime.
