Gene-environment correlations and antisocial behavior

Abstract

A body of research has underscored the importance of gene-environment correlations to the study of human development. At the same time, there has been relatively little criminological research devoted to empirically examining gene-environment correlations as they relate to salient criminogenic environments. The current study was designed to address this gap in the literature. To do so, data drawn from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health were analyzed. The results revealed relatively little evidence of gene-environment correlations as they relate to family environments. We speak to the implications of these findings and what they mean for future biosocial criminological research.
